New online breastfeeding consultation service to support British parents

The pre and postnatal education provider The Baby Academy has launched a new one-to-one breastfeeding consultation service.

The service is supported by International Board-Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) and is aimed at providing personalised support and information for parents who want to learn and develop their breastfeeding skills.

The on-demand service will offer 60-minute one-to-one video consultations alongside support through the IBCLCs aimed at boosting access to breastfeeding education.

The World Health Organisation has found multiple benefits associated with breastfeeding as breast milk is highly nutritional and contains antibodies which protect the infant from many common childhood illnesses.

Recent research on breastfeeding has found that the UK has one of the lowest breastfeeding rates in Europe. While parents valued support from healthcare professionals, they reported issues with this care being maintained.

The Baby Academy is an online provider of parent education classes and aims to offer a wide range of courses to support expectant and new parents, including antenatal classes, hypnobirthing, development and first aid.
